The Ridge MC Trigger Warnings
Navigating the world of independent publishing comes with its unique set of challenges, and I’ve recently encountered one that has prompted a shift in how I present my work. For those familiar with my books, you know that I’ve always included trigger warnings at the beginning of each story. It’s important to me that readers are aware of potential content that might affect them, ensuring a safe and enjoyable reading experience. However, my fourth book was recently relegated to Amazon’s erotica dungeon due to the mention of BDSM in the trigger warnings. This was particularly frustrating because the story is plot-driven with a subtle exploration of kink, but Amazon has its rules.
This experience has led me to reconsider how I provide these important notes. Moving forward, I’ll be including a link to the trigger warnings instead of displaying them directly in the text. While I prefer to have them upfront, being pushed into the erotica category does two things: it makes my book nearly impossible to find, and it attracts the wrong audience for the story I’m telling. I understand this may be an adjustment, but I hope readers will understand and support this change. My priority is, and always will be, the mental safety of my readers as they embark on their reading journeys.
Without further ado, here’s the list by book:
Wilde: The Ridge MC #1
Violence, death of family, abuse of family, NC/Rape (not MMC), language, some derogatory references to females, prostitution, drug trafficking and use, guns.
Celt: The Ridge MC #2
Violence, death of family, abuse of family, NC/Rape recovery, language, human trafficking, drug trafficking, guns. Honestly, this is the sweetest of the series in that it’s a recovery story, but there is still trauma.
Angel: The Ridge MC #3
SA (on page), drugs, blood, knife play, violence, human trafficking, early (pre-relationship) OW drama, death, trauma response
Cook: The Ridge MC #4
BDSM, SA (off screen), PTSD/Trauma response, human trafficking aftermath, patricide, drugs, guns, violence, domestic abuse
Princess: The Ridge MC #5 (forthcoming)
NC, CNC, denied orgasm, bondage, arranged/forced marriage, drugs, alcohol, guns, Mafia, Cartel, some OW drama prior to the harem getting together, attraction to family member, open/public sexual activity, some bully themes
